Prairie View A&M Marching Storm Band selected to perform in 2009 Rose Parade

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas - Prairie View A&M University’s Marching Storm Band and Black Foxes dance troupe have been selected to perform in the 2009 Rose Parade.

Prairie View A&M University’s Marching Storm Band and Black Foxes dance troupe will make its first appearance in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.  The Tournament of Roses Association 2009 Rose Parade is the world’s largest festival and parade of flowers, music and sports.  The Marching Storm Band and Black Foxes dance troupe will serve as the lead band during the 2009 Rose Parade.

The official announcement was held during a press conference on the PVAMU campus Aug. 29, where Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association President Ronald “Corky” H. Conzonire presented PVAMU President George C. Wright and Marching Storm Band Director George Edwards, with an official Tournament of Roses Association Rose Parade Flag in honor of the special invitation.

PVAMU Students to Appear on KNWS for Know Your Heritage Quiz Bowl

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Prairie View A&M University’s W.E.B. Du Bois History Club will be featured in the “Know Your Heritage,” History Quiz Bowl, which will be aired February 17 and 24 on KNWS Channel 51 at 8:00p.m. (Central Time). Please check local listings for specific times and details.

Prairie View A&M University was represented among collegiate teams from across the U.S. that competed in the annual quiz bowl aimed at promoting African American history.

Prairie View’s Frazier named Coach of the Year

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — The Black College Sports Page has announced the selection of Prairie View A&M’s Henry Frazier III as its 2007 Coach of the Year. Frazier was announced as the recipient of the College Sporting News Coach of the Year award in Raleigh, N.C.

This past season Frazier and his coaching staff completed arguably one of the toughest tasks in all of college football, turning around Prairie View A&M’s football program.

At the conclusion of the season the Panther’s football program has seen media entities and football fans nationwide take notice of the historic accomplishments of the football team.
“We’re very appreciative of all the awards and accolades we’ve received,” said Frazier. “I feel extremely blessed to be apart of the turnaround of PVAMU’s football program.”
