On behalf of the University family, we want to extend our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Latasha Norman during this very difficult time. Latasha was reported missing last Tuesday. Since that time, our office has joined with the Jackson Police Department and the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department to investigate her disappearance.

We want to remind everyone that because this is an ongoing investigation, we are limited in what we can discuss. However, we can share that we have received several phone calls offering information that we are investigating, and that we have searched several areas, including the campus.

We have a very dedicated and trained police force working on this case. In fact, our own Chief Rebecca Coleman served as head of the Missing Persons Division for JPD prior to her tenure at Jackson State. Chief Coleman was unable to be here today because of minor surgery, but would like us to share that our department is exploring every possible lead to bring Latasha home safely.

We have been meeting with Latasha’s family and have shared with them some of the strategies we are using in this search. We will continue to communicate with them as we gather more information.

We ask that anyone with any possible information about Latasha’s disappearance to please call 601-979-1659.
